Leonardo da Vinci
A costume study for a masque, c.1517–18

The Royal Collection is to put on the widest-ranging Renaissance drawing exhibition in British history, including 30 previously unseen works.
The drawings include preparatory works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian, showing their early sketches of paintings and tapestries as well as their creative process.

Before entering the Royal Collection, the works, drawn in Italy between 1450 and 1600, cannot be put on permanent display for conservation reasons, and have rarely been seen by the general public.
A dozen have not been exhibited in the UK before, with a further 30 of the 160 total drawings being displayed for the very first time.
Drawing the Italian Renaissance will open at The King’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace from Nov 1 2024 to March 9 2025.
